Game Devs of Color Expo

Game Devs of Color Expo is a non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying and empowering developers of color in the gaming industry. I joined the team to provide graphic design support across all channels and platforms, with the goal of creating a unified and distinct visual presence that embodies their mission.

2025 Conference Theme

For this year’s annual conference, I collaborated with creative director Brian Carr to develop an overarching visual theme centered around resilience and boldness, which served as the foundation for all event-related design work.

The goal was to create a versatile key visual that could be adapted across multiple platforms, including social media, print materials, and motion graphics — ensuring consistency in branding while allowing flexibility for different formats.

One of the highlights of this project was how well the theme translated across auxiliary events, which maintained a cohesive look while still standing out as unique experiences. This helped reinforce the event’s identity and message throughout the entire conference experience.

The result was a unified visual language that gave GDoCExpo event a strong, recognizable presence — especially when shared by external partners like the NYC Mayor’s Office, Make Games Fast, and event participants, who appreciated its clarity and impact.ption

Communications Design

Throughout the year leading up to the conference, I worked closely with communications teams to create social media and email marketing assets that helped meet performance goals, strengthened internal workflows, and boosted community engagement through consistent, impactful design.

I designed newsletter headers inspired by event themes and seasonal graphics that reinforced brand identity and audience retention; coordinated early on with the email marketing manager to ensure all primary designs were in place before the Expo; and created eye-catching YouTube thumbnails using Figma and Illustrator, which led to a 49.5% increase in viewership.

I also produced promotional graphics for fundraisers supporting game developers of color, helping meet and exceed funding goals through visually compelling content that resonated with the community.
